Reverend Richard Ames of Bilston during the years 1684-1730, kept fairly detailed records of life in his Parish. He also included little bits of the history of that area. This register is more than just lists kept by the Parish reverend; it is rich in the details that accompanies the entries.

The registers begin in 1634, but there are some extracts from the first and lost volume that dates from 1538-1634. These are listed in the itroduction to this Part 1. Part 1 then, covers the period of 1634 to 1695. It contains the baptism, marriage and burial records for that area and time. The records show that Leek was a very popular place for weddings.   • Tipton

    Tipton Parish Registers (World Vital Records - subscription required) : Tipton is an urban district in the Wednesbury Parliamentary Division of South Staffordshire, being bordered on the west and southwest by Wednesbury, West Bromwich, and Rowley Regis. It is a land of coal mines, foundries, furnaces and engineering works. The register has received some notoriety for containing the earliest dates of any other registers, but upon further examination, it looks like a mistake may have been made in the the first transcription. With that said however, the dates given for the Register remain listed as 1513 to 1736. Most likely though, the dates really began in 1573.
