Alphabetical Listing of the Filles du roi. The filles du roi, or King's Daughters, were some 770 women who arrived in the colony of New France (Canada) between 1663 and 1673, under the financial sponsorship of King Louis XIV of France.

Family Name-Nickname Associations in Old Quebec. A problem facing genealogists researching old Quebec documents concerns the use of nicknames along or instead of surnames. Moreover, distinction between name and nickname is often not clear. Often referred to as "dit names", because they are introduced in French by the word "dit" meaning "said", they abound in the nominative history of old Quebec. This database is a list of all family name-nickname associations found in in birth, marriage and deaths certificates prior to 1800. Soldiers in the Carignan-Salières Regiment who settled in Canada. Between June and September 1665, some 1200 soldiers and officers of the Carignan-Salières Regiment arrived in Quebec. Over 450 of these troops remained in the colony.
